Featured Projects

First banner advertisements on the Internet
While at TANGENT Design, we worked on some of the first paid banner ads and related websites, including AT&T and Zima, which appeared on HotWired in 1994.

Technical-creative liaison for $6 Million website in 1995
The Swedish government wanted to create a national website (Torget.se) similar to AOL. As part of a large international team of European and American developers we participated in designing the interface, editorial and content management systems for Torget and served as the Technical/Creative liaison, bridging the gap between the European client and project managers and developers in the US.

First Episodic Website, Zima.com
Coors wanted to experiment with Internet marketing to sway Zima’s the target audience demographic away from women. Zima earned extensive media coverage as one of the first episodic websites and has remained an early case study for the epoch of online marketing and advertising. With Tangent Design, our involvement began with initial brainstorming sessions for the zima.com website and progressed to editorial and site management responsibilities for this early episodic website.

Milabra

Milabra

Company: Milabra is a pioneer in leveraging proprietary visual recognition technology for commercial purposes, with a mission to power the visual web with relevant image analysis for advertising targeting purposes. Milabra’s image recognition engine, help agencies, advertisers, image publishers, data platforms and ad networks increase revenues from visual content sites by creating targeted audiences across previously un-bucketed remnant inventory, while safeguarding brands.

Goal: Milabra wanted to partner with online dating and social networking companies to perform pilot tests for their image analysis tools. They needed to quickly meet with dating sites would be open to integrating Milabra’s image categorization service.

How: Digicraft worked with Milabra to develop and assist in the execution of a partner outreach program in online dating, social networking and other industries.

Instead of a typical “boil the ocean” strategy, we provided Milabra with our industry expertise to define and target the “low hanging fruit” to get their technology running on to begin integration testing, ROI analysis, pricing and gathering valuable feedback from partners.

First we worked with Milabra to define their ideal customer. Then we refined their marketing materials to better reflect the needs and expectations of the online dating industry, a challenging and competitive business development environment.

Prior to introductions, we provided Milabra with valuable knowledge about potential partners based on our years of experience in the online dating industry. Digicraft then introduced Milabra to key online dating and social networking executives via email, blog posts, advertising and trade show exposure.

Because many Digicraft clients market their services outside of the online dating and social networking industries, we expanded Milabra’s initial partnership scope to include a broader spectrum of opportunities and made introductions to other persons of interest.

Results/Outcome: Milabra was able to quickly schedule meetings with key online dating executives and others interested in participating in their pilot program.

Thanks to our efforts, insights and refinements of the company’s core value proposition, Milabra is perceived in the online dating industry as an established startup with a valuable service offering.

Digicraft mentioned the company on our blog, which also featured a Milabra ad. Milabra gained valuable exposure at a fraction of the cost of traditional marketing, public relations and business development activities. We continued to discuss Milabra in our ongoing conversations with influential press contacts and watch them grow.
